Lawrence Festival of Trees
Liberty Hall, 644 Mass.
Join us for the 33rd Annual Lawrence Festival of Trees from Monday, December 2nd through Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Liberty Hall in beautiful Downtown Lawrence, KS. This is the annual fundraising event for The Children’s Shelter (previously known as The Shelter, Inc.), a nonprofit agency which has provided emergency services for youth and families in Lawrence and the surrounding communities since 1981.

Viewing times for the week of Dec. 2 – Dec. 8; 
Monday: 10 AM – 8 PM; Cookies with Santa Night 1: 4-6 PM
Tuesday: 10 AM – 8 PM; Cookies with Santa Night 2: 5-7 PM
Wednesday: 10 AM – 7 PM;
Thursday: 10 AM – 8 PM
Friday & Saturday: 10 AM – 5 PM
Sunday: 10 AM – 2 PM
Ugly Sweater Party 7 – 9 PM. Wednesday, Dec. 4th $10 **New this year!!**
Gala Auction Party at 7 PM, Friday, Dec. 6th $50

Admission: Suggested donation of $5 for adults and children over 12

The Gala Auction Party will be held on Friday, Dec. 6th at 7 PM. Ticket price is $50.
The Patron Preview Party will begin at 6 PM. A donation of $60 is suggested for Patrons.

Nearly 50 trees and more than 20 wreaths decorated and donated by local individuals and groups are on display, and will be sold during the Auction Party on Friday, Dec. 6th.

Friday, December 6
Santa Rescue & Downtown Holiday Lighting
9th and Mass
5:30 – 8:30pm

Join us in Downtown Lawrence where the holiday comes alive with the Santa Rescue and Holiday Lighting Ceremony! What other city combines fire trucks, twinkling lights, Christmas carols and Santa on the rooftop? The evening begins at 5:30pm with live musical entertainment for the whole family at 9th & Massachusetts. Join us along with event MC Hank Booth for live musical performances. Special visits from the Heros from Just_us League!

The Mayor will kick off the holiday season by turning on our world class holiday lights and then it’s time for a visit from the big man himself. At 6:30ish Santa will appear on the rooftop of Weaver’s Dept. Store, only to be rescued by a ladder truck, operated by @Lawrence Douglas County Fire & Medical. Once Santa is safely on the ground, he’ll be available to take gift requests from the kids.

It only seems fitting to return to where the Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade started 27 years ago at The Eldridge Hotel! From 7 AM to 11 AM they will host a Breakfast Buffet with traditional breakfast items such as Biscuits & Gravy, Scrambled Eggs, Applewood Bacon, Potatoes, Waffles and much, much more for all those downtown enjoying the parade! Gingerbread Viewing
Abe & Jake’s Landing, 8 E. 6th St. 10am-3pm
The Gingerbread Festival & Auction is a 25-year tradition here in Lawrence, and we look forward to offering new and exciting twists for 2019. Join us for holiday fun, food, drinks, activities, and the annual viewing of the biggest and best gingerbread houses that are all locally handcrafted and donated! Santa will be on site taking down those Christmas wishes as well as cookie decorating with Eileen’s Colossal Cookies, Pancake pop-up breakfast with coffee and hot cocoa, ornament decorating and much more! New this year is The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair Holiday Pop-Up for handmade holiday gifts! All proceeds raised from this event to go support our local Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters organization serving Douglas County. Make sure your calendar is marked for December 7th for the Viewing from 10am-3pm, and December 13th for the Auction at 7pm, all at Abe & Jake’s Landing!

27th Annual Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade
Mass. St. from 7th to South Park, 11am
Marking the 26th year of tradition, this is a Christmas Parade you and your family don’t want to miss. As one of the most unique parades in the nation, the Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade kicks off the holiday season with exclusively authentic horse-drawn carriages parading down Massachusetts Street. Cozy up with hot cocoa and blankets, and feel the true holiday spirit while watching dozens of beautiful horses and wagons adorned in garland and bells. Join us to celebrate American heritage and keep our tradition alive this holiday season.

Each year the Old Fashioned Christmas Parade partners with Douglas County Toys for Tots to help provide hope in the form of a new toy for children in need in Douglas County, KS. If you would like more information or to make a donation click here and select “KS – Lawrence” for the local campaign to ensure that your donation stays here in our community. The Toys for Tots Toy Shop will be set up once again this year at the former Borders Books location at 7th and New Hampshire. You can drop off donations there or at many locations across Lawrence throughout the holiday season!
